Nia DaCosta is a filmmaker based in New York, NY. She has directed the critically acclaimed modern western Little Woods, starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James, and the reboot of the horror classic Candyman, which was released in 2021. With Candyman, DaCosta made history, becoming the first Black woman director to have a number-one movie at the U.S. box office. DaCosta is also the first Black woman director of a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie — The Marvels, released in 2023.
