Mariette Monpierre is a filmmaker born in Guadeloupe and raised in Paris. She graduated from the Sorbonne and Smith College. She produced commercials for clients like Pepsi, Visa and Pizza Hut before shifting to shorts, documentaries, and narrative films. Elza (2011) is her feature-length directorial debut.
