Channing Godfrey Peoples

Channing Godfrey Peoples is a writer and director from Fort Worth, Texas. Her debut feature film, Miss Juneteenth, revolves around a former beauty queen who holds down a household, while prepping her rebellious teen daughter Kai to become a beauty queen—even if Kai wants something else. Peoples was mentored by innovative filmmaker Charles Burnett and previously wrote for the OWN drama series Queen Sugar.
