Amma Asante

Amma Asante is the director of the critically acclaimed films A Way of LifeBelle (starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and A United Kingdom (starring David Oyelowo). She released Where Hands Touch (starring Amandla Stenberg) in 2017. Asante is only the second British Black woman (following Ngozi Onwurah) to have directed a feature-length film that was given theatrical distribution in the UK. She is also the first Black woman director to win a BAFTA.
